Just outside the garden … and a bit more out there

The farmhouse of Giardino dei Sugheri is located in a natural reserve on the forest edge, but it is just a few minutes’ drive from services and many local attractions. On arrival we will leave you a map with our hint and tips.

The beach of Cala Violina

Cala Violina is a paradisiacal and wild beach: it was named this way because of the sound the sands make when the wind blows. This sandy beach with clear waters, can be reached following a trail along a picturesque Mediterranean pine wood; 3km walk in an encahnted forest. It is the beach of Bandite di Scarlino nature reserve, wild and protected, perfect if you want to entirely enjoy the nature and the sea.

Other beaches in Maremma

There is always a favorite beach, one where a sunset particularly excited us or one where the sea takes our favorite colors, or the most comfortable one and better equipped for our children. In Maremma you can find many, all within reach from the Giardino dei Sugheri in maximum 15 minutes by car.

Cala Martina
Small, sheltered by the rocks of the coast, Cala Martina cove is the first you will find in the path going fromPuntone to Castiglione della Pescaia. You will recognize it for a monument to Garibaldi, who stayed over her for some time.

Cala Civette
In the part of Maremma that goes from Follonica to Castiglione della Pescaia, you will meet the most hidden and wild beaches of the gulf: Cala Civette. In a creek behind Cala Violina, Cala Civette it is characterized by fine sand and a clear green sea. The beach is quite wide and all free. It is reached after a few minutes walk from the car park, across some rocks, flats and easy to step on.

Casetta Civinini
The beach is very wide, the sand fine and with a light color; Along with the bushy and beautiful pine forest, it creates the beautiful Mediterranean landscape, quiet and suitable for every type of tourist, from the fishing lovers to families. The seabed slopes gently and makes this stretch of coast particularly suited to families with small children. The beach is mostly free, with the exception of a refreshment bar with paid parking. From this point until the first southernmost seaside resort, the beach is accessible to pets.

Le Rocchette
A beautiful sandy beach, set among the pine forest and the promontory surmounted by an ancient castle. The beach is well equipped with only a few parts where it’s free. It is certainly the most famous beach of the coast for its crystal clear waters.

Le Marze
The beach of Le Marze is located in the coastal stretch that goes from Castiglione della Pescaia to Marina di Grosseto. It is a sandy beach, equipped in some areas and for the most part completely free. Behind it there are hundreds of dunes that separate it from the fragrant pine forest.
